Snow chains for cars going to Lake Mountain

Visiting Lake Mountain from Marysville?

Snow chain requirements can change daily depending on the weather and road conditions, so it is important to check before you travel.

These requirements apply to all vehicles, including all-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicles—subject to daily advice from Lake Mountain.

What type of snow chains do I need?

You must carry diamond-pattern snow chains that are the correct size for your vehicle and can be fitted properly.

Ladder chains, spider chains, and snow socks cannot be used at any alpine resort.

Where can I buy or hire snow chains?

Snow chains can be hired from us—just ask (we hire only.)

Chains are not available for hire once you are on the mountain, so make sure you have them with you before you begin the drive up to Lake Mountain.

Check that your vehicle can use snow chains

Some vehicles cannot safely fit snow chains because of clearance or design limitations.

Before traveling, check your vehicle manual or ask your vehicle manufacturer to confirm that snow chains can be fitted safely.

Snow chains must be fitted when directed

Snow chains must be fitted to your vehicle when directed by signage, authorised resort staff, or Victoria Police.

For the safety of everyone, chains must be fitted to vehicles in designated chain fitting bays or pullouts.
